Holistic Dog Training
According to Psychology Today, "Stress is simply a reaction to a stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental equilibrium. In other words, it's an omnipresent part of life. A stressful event can trigger the 'fight-or-flight' response, causing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to surge through the body."
Dogs get stressed just like people do, and they need ways to cope with their stress. Some dogs are better at naturally channeling their stress into flow and therefore they remain emotionally balanced. Other dogs need help channeling their stress in healthy ways. That's where the Canine Core Method™ comes into play: with a series of physical exercises, we can help bring your dog's excess energy to ground. He will no longer have the need to express his stress as unwanted behavior, e.g. chewing, barking, leash aggression, fence fighting, getting into the trash, etc.
Any and all types of behavioral issues can be helped by working with the dog's natural drive to connect with his owner and resolve stress. If you live outside the Greater Portland area, there is a travel surcharge for in-home consultations. Sessions generally last between 45 minutes and one hour (depending on the dog) and you may purchase a package of five sessions to receive a discount.
