The Wag Rag: T-Shirt Toy for Dogs
If you had grandparents who made braided rugs from scraps of cloth, or if were lucky enough to have a Grammy or Aunt who made you a log-cabin quilt, get ready for a bit of nostalgia because you already know the quality and grace of handcrafted work. While a Wag Rag may not turn into a family heirloom, it certainly reminds us of those "good old days" when people still made things by hand in the U.S. of A.
It also brings us back to a time when people really lived by the words: "waste not, want not," because these Wag Rags are created from up-cycled T-shirts! Right here in our home state of Maine, an ingenious entrepreneur has created something from nothing: T-shirts that would normally be considered almost worthless are being turned into a totally unique, hand-knotted "Wag Rag" that may just become your dog's next favorite toy.
While not intended for super-chewers, these Wag Rags are incredibly strong and durable. We did test ours with Eva the Diva in a game of tug-of-war and it was amazing that this thing was able to stretch out like an accordion and then snap back into shape. We've enjoyed several games and our Wag Rag remains unharmed!
For dogs with a softer-mouth, puppies, senior dogs and the like, we wouldn't mind letting them have hold of this thing. If you have a power-chewer, or a known toy-destroyer, please use this as a fetch and tug toy, but do not leave your dog alone with the Wag Rag. (Eventually, they will be able to start unknotting it.)
Because these are a handcrafted, up-cycled product, they do come in assorted and somewhat random multi-colored patterns (part of the charm!). They come in two sizes, and we suggest the small for dogs up to 30 pounds and the large for anyone over 30 pounds.
